Canine-Detect Pest Control is a small, owner-operated pest control company in Evansville, Indiana. We started in 2020 with one idea: a pest job is not finished when the truck pulls away. It is finished when you can see the problem is gone. The owner does the inspecting, the treatment is thorough, and for bed bugs an independent K9 team confirms the result.

Who we are
We are a local company, not a franchise. There is no call center between you and the person who will actually stand in your kitchen or crawl space. When you call 888-555-5555 you reach Canine-Detect, and when we come out, it is usually the owner or the operations manager who does the first look.
We handle residential and commercial pest control across Evansville and Southwest Indiana: bed bugs, termites, cockroaches, rodents, mosquitoes and recurring service for homes, apartment buildings and rental properties. Bed bug work is where we differ most from other companies, and it shaped how we do everything else.
The people who show up
These are the people you will deal with.
Richard, owner
Richard holds Indiana’s 7A (supervisory) and 7B (termite) licenses and does most of our initial inspections himself. A licensed expert looking at the evidence in your home gives you a better diagnosis than a salesperson working from a script.
Gil, operations
Gil runs operations: scheduling, coordination with property managers and tenants, and making sure the plan from the inspection is what happens on treatment day. When Richard is not available for an initial inspection, Gil covers it.
Romeo, service technician
Romeo is one of our service technicians. Like every technician on our crew, he is certified through the Office of the Indiana State Chemist, the program administered by Purdue, and works under Richard’s license.
How we work
Three principles run through every job, whether it is a single mouse or a full apartment building.
1. Proof, not promises
At the inspection we show you what we found, not just tell you. After a bed bug treatment, a separate company, K9 Detections, sends a trained scent-detection dog through your home to confirm it is clear. We explain what we did and why, in plain English, so you are never left wondering whether the job actually worked.
2. The expert shows up
The owner or the operations manager does most first inspections. Technicians are state-certified and work under a supervisory license. If we look and it is not what you feared, we tell you that too. A free inspection is the front door to everything we do, and it comes with no pressure and no “today-only” price.
3. Thorough, then dependable
Our bed bug heat treatments run a full 24 hours at 135°F, not the few hours many companies run, because the bugs are inside furniture and wall voids, not on the surface. For property managers and commercial accounts, dependable means showing up on schedule, talking to tenants directly to set appointments, and keeping you informed without you having to chase us.
Licensed, certified and insured
- Indiana 7A (supervisory) licensed
- Indiana 7B (termite) licensed
- Technicians certified through the Office of the Indiana State Chemist (Purdue)
- Fully insured
- Independent bed bug verification by K9 Detections
- Founded 2020
In Indiana, applicators are licensed by category through the Office of the Indiana State Chemist. Category 7A covers general pest control and 7B covers termites and other wood-destroying insects. Richard holds both, and our certified technicians work under his license. The company is fully insured.
Why the dog does not work for us
K9 Detections is a separate company on purpose
Some pest companies use their own bed bug dog. We use an outside one. If the company that did the treatment also grades it, the result is only as trustworthy as that company wants it to be. K9 Detections has no stake in telling you our job worked. If the dog alerts, we go back. If it clears your home, that is real information you can act on. K9-verified
How the verification visit works, and what a single bug in the first two weeks does and does not mean, is covered on our K9 inspection and verification page.
What customers say
We publish only real reviews from real customers. No counts, no averages, no borrowed stars. Here is one, from a termite job.
Richard and his team treated our home for termites. From the first call to Richard until completion of treatment we received professional service in a timely manner. Their work ethic and knowledge is followed up with outstanding customer service.
Read all three, including a property manager and a mosquito customer, on our reviews page.

Questions people ask about us
Is Canine-Detect locally owned?
Yes. We are an owner-operated company based in Evansville, Indiana, founded in 2020. We are not a franchise and there is no national call center.
Who actually comes to my inspection?
Usually Richard, who holds Indiana 7A and 7B licenses. When he is not available, Gil, our operations manager, handles it. Either way, the person looking at the evidence is the person who will plan the job, not a salesperson.
Are your technicians licensed?
Our technicians are certified through the Office of the Indiana State Chemist, the pesticide program administered by Purdue, and they work under Richard’s supervisory license. The company is fully insured.
Is K9 Detections part of Canine-Detect?
No, and that is the point. K9 Detections is a separate company with its own handler and trained scent-detection dog. We bring them in after a bed bug treatment so the result is checked by someone with no stake in the answer.
Do you work with property managers?
Yes. Recurring service for apartment buildings, single-family rentals and small commercial properties is a core part of what we do. We communicate with tenants directly to set appointments and keep the manager informed. See commercial and property management pest control.
