Evansville is home. Canine-Detect Pest Control started here in 2020, and the owner, Richard, still does most of the first inspections himself, in the same neighborhoods he drives through every day. Whatever has shown up in your house, you are calling a local company that already knows what your kind of house tends to have.

What we see in Evansville homes
Evansville sits on a bend of the Ohio River, and the river shapes the pest picture. Summers are long and humid, low ground holds moisture, and the housing is a real mix: older wood-frame and brick homes in the historic core, mid-century ranches with crawlspaces, newer subdivisions on the east and north sides, and plenty of rentals and apartment complexes around the two universities and downtown. Different houses, different problems.
Bed bugs
Bed bugs move with people, and Evansville has plenty of movement: student rentals turning over every August, apartment complexes with shared hallways, used furniture changing hands. This is our flagship service. We heat the space for a full 24 hours at 135°F, then an independent company, K9 Detections, brings a trained dog through to confirm it worked. See bed bug control for the method, or the Evansville bed bug exterminator page.
Termites
Subterranean termites want damp soil and wood that touches it, and river-bottom moisture plus older wood-frame construction gives them both. We find activity around crawlspaces, porch framing, sill plates and wherever a downspout has been soaking a foundation for years. Richard holds the Indiana 7B termite license, so the person inspecting is qualified to diagnose. Details on termite control.
Cockroaches
Roaches show up most in multi-unit buildings, restaurants and older kitchens where plumbing runs through shared walls. Treating one apartment while the neighbors go untreated just moves them, so we look at the whole building. See cockroach control.
Mice and rats
When the first cool nights hit in fall, rodents head indoors, and older homes with foundation gaps, open crawlspace vents and detached garages are the easiest targets. We seal the entry points, not just set traps. See rodent control.
Everything else, and keeping it that way
Ants, spiders, wasps and the general summer traffic fall under residential and commercial pest control. If you would rather not think about it again, recurring plans put us on a schedule so problems get caught early. We also run a mosquito service.
Evansville housing, house by house
Richard has been in enough Evansville homes to know where to look first in each type. That is what makes the first visit useful.
| Type of property | What we typically find | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Older wood-frame and historic homes | Termite pressure at porches, sills and crawlspaces; rodent entry through settled foundations and old vents; wasps in eaves | Termite inspection under the 7B license, exclusion at entry points, treatment matched to the construction |
| Brick ranches with crawlspaces | Moisture in the crawlspace, termite tubes on piers, ants and spiders coming up through floor penetrations | Crawlspace inspection, treatment at the soil line, free advice on moisture and grading |
| Apartment buildings and rentals | Bed bugs and roaches moving between units, turnover infestations, tenants unsure who to call | Whole-building approach, adjoining-unit checks, direct tenant scheduling and written updates for the manager |
| Commercial: restaurants, offices, downtown storefronts | Roaches near plumbing and receiving areas, rodents from alleys and dumpsters, flies | Recurring service on a set schedule, documentation for inspections, visits outside business hours where needed |
How a job with us goes
The owner looks first
Richard, or our operations manager, goes through the house with you. Being based in Evansville, that first visit is usually easy to fit in.
You get the real diagnosis
We name the pest, show you the evidence, and put the plan and price in writing. If you do not need us, you will hear that too.
Certified technicians do the work
Our techs are certified through the Office of the Indiana State Chemist and work under Richard’s license. For bed bugs, that means the full 24-hour heat treatment, not a short run.
We confirm, and we stay reachable
Bed bug jobs get an independent K9 check from K9 Detections. For everything else, we follow up, and you call if anything reappears. K9-verified
Property managers and landlords in Evansville
Evansville has a lot of rental housing, from single-family homes near the universities to full apartment complexes, and pests across a portfolio are a different job than one house. We take recurring accounts, book appointments directly with tenants, and keep the manager updated in writing. How the accounts work: commercial and property management pest control.
Great price. I’m a property manager for an apartment building and some single-family homes. Richard and Gil go above and beyond for us. They communicate and educate us well on any issues. They also communicate with tenants when needing to make appointments. Highly recommend.
Scheduling in Evansville
We are based here, so Evansville is where we can usually get to you fastest. Downtown, west side, the newer east-side subdivisions or up north, it is a short drive for us. When you call, we give you a day and a window, and the inspection is free. We will not promise something on the phone we cannot keep, but a local company with a short drive is about as good as scheduling gets.

Evansville pest control questions
Do you have an office I can visit in Evansville?
We are a service company, so the work happens at your home or building, not a storefront. Call or use the free inspection form, and Richard or our operations manager comes to you.
How quickly can you come out?
Evansville is where we are based, so it is usually the quickest place for us to schedule. Call and we will give you a day and a window right then. We do not make blanket same-day promises, because we would rather tell you what we can actually do.
I rent. Should I call you or my landlord?
Usually your landlord or property manager, since they typically arrange treatment in a rental. If they already work with us, we will book the appointment with you directly. If not, send them our way.
My house is old. Does that change how you treat it?
Yes, and that is why the inspection comes first. Older Evansville homes have more wood near the ground, more voids and more gaps than a newer build, so we look harder for termites and rodent entry and plan the treatment around the construction.
Is the free inspection really free, even if I do not hire you?
Yes. Richard or our operations manager comes out, finds what is there and tells you plainly what it is and what we would do. No charge, no pressure. If you do not need treatment, we say so.
